The project examines how motor and cognitive performance is maintained in ageing through embodied cognitive reserve in the cortico-subcortical premotor network. We focus on the role of sensorimotor signals in spatial orientation and cognitive performance, enhanced by balance training in elderly. The research extends the supply-demand mismatch theory by integrating neurobiological capital, analyzing the influence of brain reserve and plasticity on the effects of ageing. We use advanced MRI and multivariate analysis in a controlled trial to assess the impact of training on motor and cognitive functions.
