Surface characterization by drops on an inclined plane (C07)

Subject Area Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Polymer Materials
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195

Project Description

The project is dedicated to investigating the frictional force of a moving droplet on surfaces. Based on the findings to date, the measurement method is to be expanded in funding period 3 to enable the characterization of surfaces and fluids. The roughness and chemical heterogeneity of solid surfaces are to be determined with spatial resolution from the visual recording of the drop movement. Machine learning methods will also be used for image processing. In addition, the influences of surface adaptation, charge separation, viscous energy dissipation and mechanical deformation will be investigated.
