Project Details
Nanoscale investigation of wetting and de-wetting during imbibtion and nucleation (A09)
Subject Area
Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
The project investigates the influence of interfacial forces on the three-phase contact line using AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy). In funding period 3, the influence of ionic strength and ion type as well as solvent mixtures, surfactants and suspensions are of particular interest. In the case of suspensions, the focus is on ordering phenomena due to the restricted geometry between the liquid surface and the substrate near the three-phase contact line. In addition, the surface tension near the three-phase contact line will be measured to determine the influence of geometric restrictions and surface forces.
