Project Description

In the project "y tracking on the basis of positron emission tomography of particles and gases in bulk solids" (Fritsch/Wiedner) intends to detect particle movement and temporally varying local gas concentrations in the interparticle spaces. To further improve the resolution of the time-of-flight measurements, which directly impacts the precision of particle and gas tracking, an offline correction of the remaining time-walk based on a time-over-threshold measurement will be implemented. Monte Carlo simulations will be used to demonstrate that a method based on probability density functions can be used to track the movement of multiple particles by the implementation of several 3D-Gaussian distribution functions. Validation of particle tracking will be carried out in collaboration with another project and for gas dispersion. The project delivers spatially and temporally resolved validation data.
