Experimental investigation of the interactions between the flame and the particles in packed beds (A03)

Subject Area Energy Process Engineering
Technical Thermodynamics
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422037413

Project Description

Experimental investigation of the interactions between the flame and the particles in packed beds (Beyrau) delivers data of the turbulent reactive flow in bulk solids. For FP2, the project will use reactive cylindrical particles (MgCO3 that is converted to MgO + CO2). Hydrogen as a renewable fuel will be a new focus as well as non-premixed flames as they bear more relevance to industrial processes, in particular when relying on hydrogen. The project delivers validation data for other numerical projects.
