The aim of the CARMENES Photometry Project (CPP) is the full characterization of the stellar variability of the stars in the CARMENES radial velocity survey. On the one hand, this is based on archival data, on the other hand on data obtained with our own telescopes in Texas and South Africa as well as within the CARMENES Photometry Working Group with access to telescope time on various locations in Spain. We need these data to better discriminate between radial velocity signals from planets from those induced by stellar variability and to characterize the stellar variability together with various stellar activity indicators. Additionally, we will intensively follow-up stars with planet detections in order to search for transit signals. The results of this project are used within the Research Unit "Blue Planets around Red Stars" to search for Earth-like planets around low-mass stars.
