The following aims will be pursued by the departments of Neuropathology (Aims 1-4), Neurooncology (aims 5-6) and general Pathology (aims 7-8) by employing a mass spectrometer to be purchased:Identification of predictive biomarkers in MGMT (O6-Methylguanin-DNA-Methyltransferase) methylated glioblastomas.- Development and Implementation of protocols for proteomic analysis of formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues and for phosphor proteins in fresh frozen tissues - Development of a brain tumor specific protein atlas aiming at proteome based tumor classification and at identification of novel diagnostic biomarkers- Development of a mass spectrometry based assays for determination of brain tumor relevant signal transduction pathway activity- Molecular mechanisms of glioma initiation and progression in IDH mutant glioma- Deciphering of resistance towards targeted therapy- Protein based subtyping and marker identification in liver cancer- Protein identification in Imaging matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization - time of fight, MALDI-TOF data sets
