TH transporters in myelin formation and regeneration (P09)

Subject Area Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424957847

Project Description

Mct8/Oatp1c1 DKO mice show persistent hypomyelination due to the TH deficient CNS environment that impedes proper oligodendrocyte maturation while mice lacking both transporters only in oligodendroglia cells exhibit a lineage specification defect. This project aims to clarify the cell-autonomous function of Mct8/Oatp1c1 in oligodendroglia progenitor cells and assesses the contribution of the transporter Lat1 in TH-driven OL differentiation. Finally, we will study the impact of antibody application on oligodendrocyte maturation and myelination in DKO mice as a possible novel therapeutic approach for AHDS.
