Impact of TH on tanycyte functions and the relevance on central regulation of the liver and hormone uptake (P02)

Subject Area Pharmacology
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424957847

Project Description

The activity of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is an important factor for the regulation of liver metabolism. The hypothalamus is central for ANS activity, which is fine-tuned by thyroid hormones (TH). This project addresses local and cell type-specific transcriptional action of TH in the hypothalamus and its influence on peripheral metabolic diseases like NAFLD. To this aim, the project applies genetic tools, which change activity of TR alpha1 in tanycytes to identify TH-related neuronal networks, which are relevant to NAFLD pathogenesis.
