Genetic and epigenetic characterization of chronic lymphocytic leukemia with translocations involving the immunoglobulin loci (B10*)

Subject Area Hematology, Oncology
Human Genetics
Term from 2020 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 217328187

Project Description

Although 10% of CLL harbor translocations involving immunoglobulin genes (IG), their biological and prognostic impact as well as translocation partner genes remain largely unclear. Therefore, we will perform targeted capture sequencing on ~200 IG-translocated CLL cases to identify novel translocation partner genes. Moreover, we will comprehensively describe the genetic and epigenetic landscape of these cases. Functional characterization of recurrent known (e.g. BCL3/PVRL2) and selected novel partner genes will be performed. Correlation of molecular and clinical findings shall enhance our understanding on disease biology and classification and inform on deregulated pathways providing potential new therapeutic targets.
