Project Description

With a new microstructuring method we will prepare and analyze theoretically 1d and 2d lattices of coupled photon condensates in view of novel phases. In a 1d chain we expect for incoherent hopping in a tilted lattice to observe a zigzag-like density pattern. For 2d lattices with hundreds of sites we will explore the phase diagram for spiral vortices, which are predicted due to the interplay of tunnel coupling and loss rate. And based on the tunability of pump and loss in those photonic systems we will realize condensates with Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless and Kardar-Parisi-Zhang spatio-temporal correlations.
