Subject Area
Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Term
from 2020 to 2024
Project identifier

The primary objective of this proposal is to delineate the molecular mechanisms that lead to dysregulated tumor growth of aldosterone-producing adenomas (APAs) using RNA-seq to compare the transcriptional profiles of APAs stratified by nodule diameter and genotype. Secondly, we will investigate the mechanism of tumourigenesis of aldosterone-producing cell cluster to APA transition by metabolite profiling of adrenal lesions in PA using in situ matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometric imaging (MALDI-MSI). The long term aim of our work is to improve the diagnosis and management of PA in line with the translational research goals of the PA group in Munich.
