Expectation optimization for antidepressants via just-in-time adaptive interventions: a micro-randomized trial (JITAI-Expect) (A15)

Subject Area Personality Psychology, Clinical and Medical Psychology, Methodology
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422744262

Project Description

Project A15 will extend their work on the detrimental effects of negative expectation on treatment efficacy, tolerability, and adherence to antidepressant medication in patients with major depressive disorder by directly targeting and optimizing treatment expectations via just-in-time adaptive intervention (JITAI). They will conduct an online, two-arm, factorial randomized controlled trial in which expectation optimization via a smartphone application, targeting dysfunctional treatment expectations directly with adapted interventions, is compared with an untreated control group and with intra-individually randomized sham interventions within the JITAI group.
