Treatment expectation in clinical and experimental inflammatory skin conditions (A12)

Subject Area Personality Psychology, Clinical and Medical Psychology, Methodology
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422744262

Project Description

Project A12 showed that verbally induced expectation alone has only limited effects on pharmacological treatment outcomes in patients with psoriasis. In a next step, the project will target treatment expectation and experiences by combining reinforcement learning principles with the application of a human monoclonal antibody in a clinical proof-of-concept study. Further, they will capitalize on their recently developed experimental skin allergy model, which they will apply in healthy volunteers, allowing the effects and mechanisms of negative expectation to be explored in a context that is not limited by clinical considerations and ethical implications.
