Project Details
Material-minimized extrusion of carbon-reinforced concrete (D02)
Subject Area
Construction Material Sciences, Chemistry, Building Physics
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417002380
The objective of this project is to gain further scientific insights of the extrusion process of carbon-reinforced concrete (CRC) elements. The expected outcomes include advancements in extrudable material optimization and characterization, optimum carbon-reinforcement integration and overall CO2 footprint reduction of the extruded CRC elements. Hollow-core cross-sections including specifically shaped and positioned carbon reinforcement combined with subsequent CO2 curing enables significant improvements of the resource and CO2 footprint in later assembled concrete elements. Based on the results from our systematic laboratory studies relevant scaling laws are derived for a faster upscaling towards large-scale extrusion processes.
