The newly developed extended phase-field method (XPFM), which allows for relatively coarse discretizations for fracture simulations, will be extended to include crack friction within 3D mesoscale simulations. To efficiently capture the influence of the dowel effect and of the partial carbon roving pull-out during crack opening, the delamination and friction behavior between concrete matrix and roving is modeled by an XFEM implementation of a special cohesive zone element capable of reproducing remaining deformations after unloading. This mesoscale modeling will be validated and included in a multiscale framework to assess the resilience of macroscopic carbon-reinforced concrete parts to various external loadings.
