Multiscale and mixed-dimensional substructure modeling of carbon-reinforced resolved concrete shell structures (C03)

Subject Area Applied Mechanics, Statics and Dynamics

Project Description

The aim is the development of efficient numerical methods for analyzing construction elements with resolved interiors. The first approach is a multiscale homogenization procedure. The construction element is discretized using shell elements, and the homogenized material parameters are obtained by analysis of a representative volume element (RVE). The RVE describes the resolved interior of the construction element. The second approach employs a mixed-dimensional substructure model. It couples solid elements (3D domain) with shell elements (2D domain). It allows the modeling of local, critical regions of the resolved interior in 3D, whereas the main part of the construction element is modeled by shells considering the multiscale homogenization.
