Project Details
Tessellated 4D textiles for extrusion and folded structures (B02)
Subject Area
Lightweight Construction, Textile Technology
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417002380
The project aims to achieve a methodology for the realization of tessellated textile reinforcement structures for concrete construction. Therefore, a study of the effect of textile properties on the quality of tessellation is carried out. Based on this, three approaches are investigated to transform planar textile reinforcements into tessellated structures in a reproducible way: (1) simultaneous or sequential folding of the geometry, (2) stamp deformation, (3) adaptation of the 4D textile approach. The tessellated textile structures are characterized on the textile level and on the concrete composite level. The project concludes with the integration of the tessellated textile reinforcement into the novel manufacturing processes, in particular the extrusion and folded structures.
