Surface Chemistry and Electrocatalytic Functions of 2D Metal-Organic Frameworks (A04)

Subject Area Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Physical Chemistry of Solids and Surfaces, Material Characterisation
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417590517

Project Description

The project will focus on establishing the synthesis of metal-organic framework (MOFene)-based composite materials for the detection and capturing of harmful molecules by electrochemical sensing. The synthesis routes for idealized model systems and MOFene materials developed in the first funding period will be implemented to produce hybrid materials. Analyses of surface chemistry and reaction kinetics of surface sites will be continued and catalytically active site engineering, as well as defect engineering, will be targeted. In particular, attention will be paid to selective functionalization and defect incorporation in terms of catalyst design.
