Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 442400269
The project aims to analyze the strength of substitutional as well as complemen-tary relations between different types of media use (text-based, audio and audio-visual media and computer/smartphone) as well as between media use and other activities (especially computer-mediated interpersonal communication) as a function of diverging temporal constraints in different media generations. In a further step, the project seeks to investigate differences in media types displacing time spent on homework and other duties with time spent on media use and its effects on adolescent’s academic performance. Data bases are time budget data and data on academic performance from official statistics for secondary analysis and original data to be collected through a diary study with adolescents.
