The renewal project will explore the following topics for fiber-opticcommunication: (1) Investigate methods to maximize the transmission capacity of systems using Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing (NFDM);(2) Nonlinear and quasi-linear multiplexing of channels generated by the Nonlinear Fourier Transform (NFT); (3) Evaluation of alternative fiber types for NFT-transmission;(4) Influence of manufacturing process dependent system impairments on NFDM systems
