Molecular pathways of gasdermin pore formation and repair (A04)

Subject Area Immunology
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 414786233

Project Description

While work in the first funding phase has contributed to the molecular understanding of pore formation by gasdermin D (GSDMD) as a major effector for inflammation downstream of inflammasome assembly, we still do not understand the mechanistic details of activation, regulation, and removal of other gasdermin family members. This project will employ camelid nanobodies to visualize and manipulate pore formation by GSDMA, GSDMD, and GSDME to uncover the molecular underpinnings of physiological and pathological roles of gasdermins.
