Modelling and Simulation of Concrete 3D Printing Based on a Massively Parallel Multi-Phase, Multi-Component LBM Approach (B03)

Subject Area Fluid Mechanics
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 414265976

In this project, the phase field cumulant lattice Boltzmann method will be further developed and applied to the modeling of two different 3D printing techniques for concrete: Selective Cement Activation (SCA) and Injection 3D Concrete Printing (I3DCP). For studying the hydration dynamics in the SCA, the phase field model will be extended for volume averaged porous media for the cement phase while the aggregate phase will be fully resolved. For the I3DCP, the complex rheology of the concrete and the supporting fluid will be included into the phase field model. The I3DCP process will be modeled at a length and time scale relevant for the printing of entire parts.
