Project Details
Chemical ordering and dislocation defect phases in ternary intermetallic phases (C02)
Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 409476157
Project C02 focuses on Ni-Nb(Al,Cu) intermetallic phases and the challenge of experimentally identifying and separating similar intermetallic crystals. For this purpose, new EBSD analyses based on a Direct Electron Detector for intermetallic and defect phases will be developed in collaboration with A07n. In addition, the effect of local chemical ordering on dislocation defect phase transitions will be investigated. This includes the investigation of the effects of a deviating stoichiometry and a ternary alloy with Cu and Al in the Ni-Nb-µ phase, as well as the influence of elemental exchange in the Nb(Ni,Al)-C14 Laves phase.
