Spin+AFM Dynamics: Driving antiferromagnetism by currents of angular momentum and lattice dynamics (A11)

Subject Area Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268565370

Project Description

Project A11 addresses from theory the impact of current- and laser-driven lattice vibrations, magnonic excitations, and currents of angular momentum on non-linear AFM dynamics and AFM switching, thus bringing antiferromagnets into the realm of orbitronics. With our project we will advance the understanding of how lattice degrees of freedom in combination with novel types of currents of angular momentum can improve the switching properties of antiferromagnetic order, and result in novel types of non-linear AFM dynamics.
