Project Details
Pre-synthesis of functional grains for manufacturing of ‘Refractory Composites’
Subject Area
Glass, Ceramics and Derived Composites
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 416817512
The focus of the project is the investigation of the pre-synthesis of functional grains for the manufacturing of “Refractory Composites”. The pre-synthesis of the grains takes place with the aid of different manufacturing routes and sintering conditions, which influence the particle geometry of the grain (polyhedral via crushed grains, spherical via alginate route, adjustable shape via 3D-printing), the surface morphology and chemistry as well as the generated grainsize distribution as a function of the ceramic and metallic parts. A complete new approach is dealing with the investigation of the electrical assisted wettability in a special heating microscope of sandwich components based on coarse grained core/shell structures of the project 2 as well as fine grained structures based on 3D-printed components of project 1. By applying a voltage with the aid of Pt-electrodes the three wetting stages will be investigated.
