Control of the oxygen content in the thermal arc and the effect on the material transition for the production of oxygen-free joints (B05)

Subject Area Production Automation and Assembly Technology
Term from 2020 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 394563137

Project Description

In this subproject the processes in the thermal plasma and on the workpiece surface by the generation of an XHV-adequate atmosphere in the arc area of a welding or brazing process are researched. Investigations are planned which, by developing X-ray and light spectroscopic model experiments, will reveal the processes that determine the thermal plasma and which surface reactions are triggered on the sample surface. The oxygen-free process zone created by the addition of silane to the plasma gas will be regarded as a reactive process zone in which there is a potential for oxide layer reduction at the sample surface.
