Medium and High Entropy Alloys (HEA) will be explored for magnetocaloric applications. MnFeCoNiGeSi exhibiting a field-induced structural transition will be used as a model system to explore the interplay between chemical Short-Range Order and elastic instability leading to the transition. The results will help to adapt processing parameters and chemical compositions to tailor HEAs (with project A04) with narrow hysteresis for magnetocaloric applications for other model systems. The collaboration with theory projects B06, B13 as well as with characterization projects B01, B05 will augment the information gained from X-ray and neutron scattering experiments.
