Layered bulk solids (MAB phase) and solids with variable crystal structures (antiperovskite carbides, nitrides and carbonitrides) which contain non-critical elements, known or predicted as stable magnetocaloric materials with high magnetization, will be synthesized as powder by using microwave heating and wet chemical-based techniques (sol-gel and liquid ammonia). Guiding principles will be in line with B02, such as manipulating transition temperatures by doping. Further target compounds that have been predicted (A05) as stable magnetocalorics (Fe3AlB4, Fe3CoB2, Mn3SnC, Co3GaN) will be included (B05) and magnetically characterized (B01).
