Subject Area
Musicology
Term
since 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 405662736
This project aims to investigate and assess the exchange between music-related autological artistic activities and heterological experiences of social communication in the bath house and the spa. In the second funding phase, the field of research will be expanded on two levels. Firstly, research will now extend to the end of the early modern period (around 1800); secondly, the geographical area will be widened to include England. Music, being integrated in the balneological spaces of communication and action, contributes to the recreational and healing processes. The praxeological combination of both levels constitutes a musico-balneological figure of reflection of a ‘different’ aesthetics.
