Subject Area
Classical, Roman, Christian and Islamic Archaeology
Term
since 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 405662736
Based on the CRC’s praxeological model, project A02 has presented evidence of a ‘different’ aesthetics of economic spaces in central Italy and Greece which is evinced by various strategies of decoration pursued since the late Republic. Building on these results, the project will now explore if and how the aestheticization of economic spaces was perceived in the Roman provinces and beyond during the imperial era and whether its premises, methods, and aims were modified. The focus will be on the cultural dynamics manifesting themselves in the aesthetic formation of economic buildings and their use.
