Coherent neutrino scattering: First results from NUCLEUS (N07)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 283604770

Project Description

In this project, the NUCLEUS experiment will take the first data heading for the first observation of coherent neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) after the experiment setup has been moved to the Chooz nuclear reactor. A strong data analysis and software development team will be built that will also exploit artificial intelligence tools. Increasing the detector target mass by one order of magnitude will enable leading sensitivity beyond Standard Model physics, such as non-standard neutrino interactions and neutrino charge radii.
