Project Details
Elastohydrodynamic Interactions of particles flowing over structured surfaces (A10*)
Subject Area
Fluid Mechanics
Term
from 2019 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 172116086
In this project, interactions between structured surfaces and soft particles or bioparticles that flow over the surface are investigated and modelled. In such situations, the local flow field between the particle and surface influences the motion of the particles, and in consequence their deposition on the surface. The governing interaction forces between particles and surface are investigated experimentally, modelled theoretically and implemented in a finite element simulation of the fluid flow. They will be evaluated regarding their implications for bioparticles and their deposition on microstructured surfaces.
