Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 427149474
With the cryostat, quantum systems or hybrid quantum systems will be cooled to below 100mK to increase their coherence times and to achieve cooling to their quantum mechanical ground state. As an example, the device will be used to cool down mechanical oscillators that are coupled to spins in solid-state materials and to provide a prerequisite for spin-cooling of mechanical resonators. Furthermore, the cooling efficiency of various coupled systems will be investigated to test the thermodynamic limits of cooling efficiency for different thermal baths. The cryostat will also serve to cool various spin systems at high magnetic fields to low temperatures in order to extend their relaxation time.
