Modelling of joint ability as function of the binding mechanism (A04)

Subject Area Joining and Separation Technology
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 418701707

Project Description

Based on the findings of FP1 on the correlation of joint properties with the existing bond mechanism state, a method transfer to non-destructive closure type measurement is carried out with the aim of integrated process monitoring in FP2. In addition to load-carrying capacity, conductivity is considered another adaptable bond property. The form-fit and force-fit portion to be measured is to be varied during joining for a future transformable clinch and self-pierce riveted joint. The phenomenological and analytical description approaches are transferred into a basic physical model and validated using a joining energy-based evaluation.
