Light-dependent dynamics in the assembly of the cyanobacterial motility machinery (A02)

Subject Area Biochemistry
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 403222702

Project Description

Cyanobacterial type IV pili form distinct modular subassemblies to fulfill different cellular functions: motility, DNA uptake and aggregation. In this project, we focus on the assembly, dynamics and localization of pilus submodules to understand how different subassemblies mediate the diverse functions and how the cell controls localized assembly of pilus filaments at the right place to pull the cell into a certain direction.
