Project identifier

Aortic stenosis (AS) affects 5% of individuals over 70 years of age. In the vast majority of cases AS has a multifactorial etiology, i.e. it involves a combination of the cumulative effect of genetic risk variants and environmental factors. Through our scientific network GUARD we will elucidate the genetic mechanisms underlying AS in a genome-wide fashion. In addition to patients with severe AS, moderate AS patients will be included and followed up to understand genetic determinants of slow and fast progression.
