The project "Hugo Distler. Sämtliche Schriften" (Complete Writings) pursues the goal of making Distler's published texts as well as his libretti drafts for operas and oratorios accessible for the first time in a philologically appropriate form, commenting on them and thus creating the basis for further disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. In the second phase of funding, the materials will be evaluated, the acquisition and review of which had to be omitted due to Corona, and the commentary section will be expanded to double its scope through an in-depth examination of the secondary literature. As a result, Distler's texts and his working methods will be researched for the first time and reconstructed in comparison with his extensive correspondence, historiographically and musicaesthetically located and placed in the context of the political, social and cultural atmosphere of his time.
