Censorship and Restitution in the Light of State, Semi-State and Private Claims (A01)

Subject Area Public Law
German Literary and Cultural Studies (Modern German Literature)
Term from 2019 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 403589434

Project Description

The new focus will be, on the one hand, on private and civil society measures, which, although not to be regarded as state censorship, are nevertheless to be seen as "measures of equal effect," and, on the other hand, on violations of personality rights, which are not understood as attacks on real persons in their individuality, but as violations of the rights of ethnic or cultural collectives, i.e., as attacks on persons from the point of view of provenance and affiliation. A keyword here is the highly topical cultural appropriation, the legal and political significance of which needs to be examined, especially with regard to literature.
