Project Details
Creating an Open Access Journal for Criminology
Subject Area
Criminology
Term
from 2019 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 421689316
The project aims to establish an electronic journal for criminology named “Kriminologie – Das Online-Journal (KrimOJ)/Criminology - The Online Journal (CrimOJ)". The journal intends to improve international visibility of German criminology and to facilitate discourse amongst the international scientific community. “Kriminologie - Das Online-Journal (KrimOJ)/Criminology - The Online Journal (CrimOJ)” will be set up as an open access journal free of charge for both, readers and authors. This policy will ensure accessibility and broad distribution of criminological research findings. Furthermore, this conception follows the “Budapest Open Access Initiative“ which develops strategies across different disciplines to allow free internet access to scientific knowledge. Besides this basic orientation – which does not exist in Germany yet and only once in Europe – the journal is supposed to foster a broad international exchange in the area of criminology. In order to lower the threshold of language barriers and to allow a worldwide discussion, papers in German and English will be considered for publication. The bilingual title “Kriminologie – Das Online-Journal (KrimOJ)/Criminologiy - The Online Journal (CrimOJ)" shows this flexibility regarding the language of publication. Moreover, the editorial board comprises renowned researchers from Germany, Europe, the US, Asia and Australia.
