Molecular Chemistry
Molecular Chemistry
Term
Funded in 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 420241182
The goal of this application is the new acquisition of a high resolution mass spectrometer at Freie Universität Berlin. The instrument is planned to be used for proteomic investigations, for the identification of post-translational modifications and for the investigation of intact proteins or protein complexes by native mass spectrometry. As part of the existing BioSupraMol facility the spectrometer is intended to be installed at the Department of Biology/Chemistry/Pharmacy and should serve the diverse requirements of the individual research groups. The intended projects reach from typical protoemic applications for the identification of protein networks in complex mixtures to questions related to structure and molecular mechanism underlying protein complex formation. The biological systems that will be interrogated are also of diverse origin and for example comprise questions of the change of proteomes and interactomes in bacteria upon changing environmental conditions to questions that ask for modifications of proteins upon stimulation of the nervous or immune system.
