Final Report Abstract

The research of this fellowship has not only great significance in the field of electrochemistry but also within the area of chemical biology and the pharmaceutical sector. It enables the active site labeling of various biomolecules under physiological conditions by using a small 4-membered ring system and electrochemistry, successfully extending the toolbox of chemical biology. This novel electrochemical approach has the potential to facilitate drug discovery, the isolation of unknown proteins, reveal protein-protein-interactions and visualize important biochemical processes. Moreover, it might reduce the interruption of important cellular functions compared to established methods.
