Project Description

In this project, we investigate the mechanism of homologous recombination (HR) with a particular focus on two novel HR factors, RAD54B and RECQ1. Recent work from us and others has delineated two subpathways of HR that have distinct outcomes and involve specific genetic elements. We propose that both RAD54B and RECQ1 are specific factors for one of the two subpathways. The project further aims to screen for additional factors specific for one of the two HR sub-pathways and to establish assays that allow the investigation of a fundamental HR intermediate, the so-called D-loop.
