Project Details
Insulin resistance, diabetes and metabolic liver diseases in acute myocardial infarction (B12)
Subject Area
Cardiology, Angiology
Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Term
from 2019 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236177352
This project aims at characterizing the role of insulin resistance, typical for type 2 diabetes, in cardiac and systemic metabolism and organ crosstalk in patients with STEMI. This collaboration of cardiologists and diabetologists will enable concerted state-of-art analysis of heart function and pathogenic mechanisms (energy metabolism, inflammation) including magnetic resonance. This project has a key role within this CRC for detecting subphenotypes allowing for risk stratification of these patients with - at present - worse outcome and by serving as platform for experimental projects to identify metabolic targets for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
