Influence of Fluoride Ions on Fluid-Melt-Mineral Interactions in Ore Forming Processes (A07)

Subject Area Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 387284271

Project Description

Subproject A7|John studies the unique influence of fluoride ions on the interaction of silicate melts with aque-ous fluids, which is crucial for the formation of pegmatitic high-field-strength element (HFSE) ore deposits. The fundamental results will subsequently be transferred to ore geological application by developing an improved predictive model for ore-grade enrichment of critical HFSE group metals in fluoride-rich pegmatites.
