The aim of this research project is the analysis of the influence of short-chain fatty acid propionate on arthritic diseases by the modulation of T effector cells and regulatory T cells (Treg). We hypothesis that strengthening regulatory immune elements can lead to improved control and suppression of disease progression in arthritic diseases, as well as protection against bone/joint tissue destruction and subsequent loss of function.
