In an effort to support its researchers in publishing articles in fee-based Open Access journals, Saarland University aims to set up a publication fund with initial funding by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The initial support of the DFG is intended to establish a reliable structure for financing publication costs in Open Access journals. Only fees for the publication of articles in original, quality-checked and peer reviewed Open Access journals will be refundable from the planned fund. The reimbursement of article processing charges from the fund will be as easy as possible. Accompanying organisational, technical, consulting and legal activities ensure that a comprehensive, but as simple and efficient service as possible is provided.
