The theoretical description of spin dynamics in semiconductors necessitates a transport theory for strong spin-orbit coupling. Very successful are semiclassical approaches like the Boltzmann equation and – in particular in degenerate electron systems – the so-called quasiclassical Green’s functions. In this project these approaches will be applied to questions like voltage induced spin accumulation, spin-Hall effect, spin dephasing and spin relaxation.
