Project Details
Spatio-temporal patterns of Q(10) values for improved modelling of heterotrophic soil respiration (B03)
Subject Area
Soil Sciences

from 2007 to 2018
Project identifier

The Community Land Model (CLM) as part of TerrSysMP assumes a fixed temperature dependency of heterotrophic soil respiration. Our findings indicate, however, a variable temperature dependency as a function of texture, porosity, moisture, and nutrient status of the soil. We plan to scale the influence of these factors in relation to land-use and soil unit. We will test the found relations for selected parts of the Rur catchment using proximal and remote soil sensing, backed up by lab-based mid-infrared spectroscopy and soil incubations with our RESPICOND system. Potential improvements will be implemented in CLM.
