We will perform local-scale measurements of net ecosystem exchange and soil status variables. Gridded 1D-model runs with AgroC, accounting for soil thermal, water and CO2 fluxes and plant growth, will provide the source/sink terms to the Large Eddy Simulation model developed by D6. The coupled AgroC/LES model will be used to investigate how and to which extent the within-field spatial pattern of CO2 release/uptake introduced by the subsurface and surface heterogeneities feeds back into the spatio-temporal variability of atmospheric CO2, water and heat fluxes.
